About MacDaddy
I’m Benedict Slaney, the developer behind MacDaddy. I’ve spent more than two decades writing Mac software, with a background in data recovery and digital forensics.
I designed and wrote the core data-recovery engine behind FileSalvage myself, developing it over several years. I licensed that technology to SubRosaSoft, where it also powered the professional digital-forensics product MacForensicsLab. Products built on my recovery technology have generated tens of millions in sales.
Customers of those products included Apple, IBM ISS, Facebook, NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, alongside government agencies, universities and specialist forensic organisations. Together, the customer records span 26 countries.
My work also includes backup software and applications that run AI locally, which I’ve been building since 2016.
Today, MacDaddy is where I develop my own Mac apps independently. I like solving the difficult technical problem underneath, then making the result straightforward to use.
I write and support the apps myself. When you get in touch, you’re speaking directly to the person who made them.
