Nothing extra
Turbo Whisper handles capture, hands the audio to Whisper, and types the result for you. No editing suite, no summaries, no diarisation — just the transcript.
A thin macOS wrapper around OpenAI Whisper. Capture audio, let large-turbo or Parakeet v3 process it locally, and drop the text straight into whatever app you’re using.
No marketing fluff. Turbo Whisper just streamlines the pieces that Whisper already provides.
Turbo Whisper handles capture, hands the audio to Whisper, and types the result for you. No editing suite, no summaries, no diarisation — just the transcript.
Large-turbo runs through WhisperKit; Parakeet v3 uses our own Metal pipeline. Switch from the menu bar depending on whether you want maximum accuracy or a lighter footprint.
Everything stays on your Mac. Share it only if you choose — Turbo Whisper never sends audio to a server.
Choose Whisper large-turbo for accuracy or Parakeet v3 for speed. Turbo Whisper routes audio to whichever engine you selected and keeps everything local.
Use the record button for live capture, or drag audio/video files into the window. Everything stays on device.
Click transcribe. Whisper handles speech-to-text, optional translation to English, and punctuation — exactly as the open-source project provides.
Turbo Whisper pastes the transcript into the focused document automatically and also exposes the plain text in case you want to save it elsewhere.

Turbo Whisper keeps to Whisper’s strengths: fast local transcription with two tuned models. No surprise features, no mystery services.
You get text output, period. There’s no diarisation, summarising, or editing layer bolted on — stick with Whisper’s core quality.
Whisper large-turbo loves Apple silicon. If you’re on an older Intel Mac, switch to Parakeet v3 for lighter loads.
Every sample stays on your Mac. Share it only if you choose — Turbo Whisper won’t send anything anywhere.
Turbo Whisper ships with two buttons: Whisper large-turbo (via WhisperKit) and Parakeet v3 (our own Metal pipeline). Pick whichever fits your hardware and latency needs.
Yes. Whisper has a built-in translate-to-English mode, and Turbo Whisper just forwards that flag to the selected model. Whatever Whisper outputs is what you get.
Whisper offers basic diarisation hints, but Turbo Whisper does not add extra speaker separation. Expect a single transcript stream from either model.
No. Turbo Whisper is a GUI helper. If you need scripting, call WhisperKit or the Whisper CLI directly.
Turbo Whisper is maintained by the same one-person shop behind Mac Backup Guru and Install Disk Creator. Got feedback or bugs? Please share them.
